What to do if someone is choking

Join us for a networking lunch with an educational component. Each month, we bring in a local speaker to share their expertise on topics relevant to your business. This month, we will be learning about what to do if someone is choking. The presentation will include:

• an overview of the anatomy and physiology of choking;
• basic steps of check, call, care;
• a demonstration of the technique; and
• an offer to assist anyone who wishes to try the technique

1st in First Aid Training is a locally owned and operated Safety and First aid training company. Gerald Fluge and Trisha Cuthbertson have established a reputation as being instructors who are “knowledgeable, good speakers, who share relevant experiences with good discussion, fun. Leaders who can offer good role playing opportunities, excellent inter-activity, keep it fun & interesting, are able to answer all questions, make the course an enjoyable experience.”

Trisha came to first aid about 15 years ago when, as a mother of 3 children aged 13, 8 and 5, she decided that office work was not for her. Her kids’ swimming instructor said “we need Moms in the daytime, why don’t you try it?” So, step 1, she learned how to swim! The next two years consisted of evening and weekend classes and hours at the pool to practice, culminating in the successful completion of her Instructor and Lifeguard certifications. She was hired on by the Barrie YMCA, and later by the City of Barrie, where she completed further qualifications to become an Instructor/Trainer. Presently, Trisha offers First Aid training, Swim Instructor Training, and Babysitter courses.

Join us for our monthly lunch in the fabulous Getaway Restaurant at OLG Slots at Georgian Downs! The food will be delicious, the atmosphere will be cozy, and your Events Committee will make sure that you get the most out of each event!

Please Register before 10:00am on the day prior to the event. Registrations after that time may not be accepted.

If you are unable to attend, please call 721-5000 to cancel before 12:00pm on the Monday prior to the event. Those who are pre-registered but do not attend and have not canceled will be charged for lunch.
