About Us

Welcome to Barrie Families Unite!

BFU believes everyone deserves dignified access to essentials. What began as a grassroots initiative is now a registered not-for-profit supporting individuals and families in crisis. Through Grocery Gap Orders, Clothing & Footwear Access, and Crisis Support, we bridge service gaps in our community.

As we grow, BFU is launching a social enterprise thrift store, providing affordable and agency-referred no-cost shopping for essentials. Our mission is simple: helping people when they need it most, with dignity and compassion.

We proudly collaborate with local agencies and businesses to strengthen support networks. Together, we can make Barrie a stronger, more connected community.

Massive Shout out to Maggie. Maggie is a grade 12 student from Eastview. Her school project was to do something to make a difference in our community. She held a clothing drive and collected over 400 pieces of clothing. It came to us neatly folded and we will gift it out to our families that need a hand up. Maggie made a big difference and deserves top marks for her contribution!
