For 50 years, Harrowsmith has been a trusted Canadian voice for grassroots living, sustainable culture, and a deep connection to land, food, and community.
In 2026, we’re expanding that legacy with Harrowsmith Local — a free, community-centric magazine designed to serve and reflect distinct Ontario communities through thoughtful editorial, local storytelling, and practical guidance.
Distribution is central to our mission. Harrowsmith Local is intentionally placed, not mass-distributed — reaching readers where values, curiosity, and community already intersect.
Position Overview
We are seeking 4–5 part-time distributors to serve as Harrowsmith Local Ambassadors, responsible for delivering each quarterly issue to a pre-approved network of value-aligned merchants and organizations.
You will be the on-the-ground steward of the magazine — ensuring copies are well-placed, visible, and replenished, while providing light community intelligence that helps shape future issues and partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver magazines to assigned, confirmed locations within your territory
• Maintain clean, visible, and respectful displays
• Track pickup rates and confirm distribution completion
• Submit simple post-distribution reports
• Share light community insights (businesses, events, seasonal activity)
• Act as a positive brand representative
• Optionally flag advertising or partnership leads
Distribution Locations May Include Independent main-street retailers
• Libraries and cultural hubs
• Cafés and specialty food shops
• Garden centres and home & hardware stores
• Farmers’ markets and seasonal venues
Time Commitment
Four distribution cycles per year (quarterly)
• Each distribution cycle is completed within 3 days
• Light reporting required at the conclusion of each cycle
Ideal Candidate
Reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently
• Connected to their local community
• Aligned with sustainability, local food, craft, and place
• Access to a vehicle and able to lift up to ~40 lbs.
