Angela Baldwin,  Baldwin Planning & Consulting

Angela has an Honours Degree in Environmental Studies from the School of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Waterloo and operates her own land use planning consulting business in Barrie. She was the Director of Planning for ClubLink Corporation for 9 years where she was in charge of obtaining approvals for numerous golf and resort developments during a tremendous growth phase at ClubLink throughout Ontario. Angela is a Registered Professional Planner and a member of the Ontario Professional Planning Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners.

Angela has been the Chair of the Barrie Film Festival Board of Directors since 2016 and a member of the board since 2013. She is the chair of the Grants Commitee for the Barrie Community Foundation and on the Board of Directors for the Maycourt Club of Barrie. She is the co-chair of the Capital Campaign committee for Redwood park communities affordable housing project, a member of Ripples of Kindness and Gals that Give - two local organizations that fundraise for local charities.

She sponsors Theatre by the bay’s Indie Producer program and organized and financed a major renovation at the Women’s and Childrens Shelter in Barrie. She has been on the organizing committee for Barrie Toy Tea for 10 years - this event has raised over $120K for Simcoe Family Connexions and Gildas Club. Her community contributions led to her being awarded the Ann Hogarth Leading Women Award in 2017, Barrie Arts Award Contribution to the Community 2018, Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Heart and Soul Award, 2019 and Barrie Rotary Club Volunteer of the Year, 2019.

Claudine Cousins, Empower Simcoe 

Claudine Cousins is Chief Executive Officer of Empower Simcoe, a human services organization in the broader health sector, and teaches part-time in the School of Business at Georgian College. She has over twenty-five years of leadership experience with various Ministries within the Ontario Public Service and the not-for-profit and profit sectors, including banking and investment. Claudine brings expertise from an operations, governance, diversity, and human resources leadership lens within unionized and non-unionized organizations with a drive and passion for social justice issues and its link to business outcomes.

Claudine is a strategic and big-picture thinker, with extensive academic training. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management specializing in Human Resources, a Masters of Arts Degree in Leadership, a Post Graduate Certificate in Public Relations and is a candidate for the PhD. in Health Care Administration. Claudine is a member of Lakehead University’s Board of Governors, a Rotarian, champion for the Sandbox’s HR CNNX Peer Group, volunteer on the Human Resource Professionals Association’s Regulatory Committee, and grateful parent to two future change agents – Shaquille and Jyde.

Shak Edwards,  Shak's World Community Centre

My name is Shanicka Edwards, better known as Shak. I am the President of Shak’s World Association and owner of Shak’s World Community Centre. Shak’s World was created buildrespectful and successful athletes/community members while bringing awareness to their mental and physical wellbeing through basketball and community engagement.

Shak’s mentorship program bridges the gap between mental and physical health by creating a safe space for youth. While bringing together communities through a game that transcends age, race and sex. Shak’s World Community Centre is the home of Barrie’s very first for the youth by the youth centre. Ran predominantly by young Black community members under the age of 30. This is the Stay. Humble.
