The Future of Caring Trends Workshop

Join us for a hands-on workshop exploring the latest trends in caregiving and how they will shape the future!

Join us on June 11, 2025, at the Barrie Chamber of Commerce for an engaging community event focused on exploring the Future of Caring through emerging trends. This session will delve into the fascinating signals gathered by our Scan Club, offering an opportunity to explore the process of trend development by combining research and intuition. Over six weeks, participants of the Scan Club used a mix of imagination, intuition, creativity and observations of events in the world-at-large to gather and discuss signals about care in the future and the present.

In this hands-on, collaborative experience, participants will work together to cluster related signals and form trends, analyzing their implications and extrapolating their potential impact on our future. With a special focus on the theme of Caring, attendees will gain valuable insights that will help shape upcoming strategic planning, program development, and policy design for community organizations. These trends will also complement the 12 trends around the theme of Belonging developed during our 2024 Scan Club and Trend Day.

This event is part of the Future of Belonging Project, a key initiative to build a Community Innovation Network to design the future we need in our region. Alongside the Georgian College Social Innovation and YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka teams, you’ll get an introduction to Foresight methodology while exploring the diverse, emerging signals that shape the theme of Caring.
