Description
Join us for a free workshop with Georgian College to learn how to Harness the Power of Work Integrated Learning! Almost all Georgian programs offer a work integrated learning experience. Work integrated learning is a model and process of education that formally integrates a student’s academic studies within a workplace or practice setting, with critical reflection on the experience. It’s a chance for learners to gain experience as part of their programs. For employers, it's an opportunity to engage the next generation of workers, ensuring they have the skill sets the industry needs, helping to shape their work habits, and showing them the value of strong work ethic. Most of us are familiar with the concept of co-operative education, and many of us will have completed this type of placement ourselves. But did you know there are actually 8 types of Work integrated learning experiences offered by Georgian College? Perhaps your business isn't ready to take on the financial responsibility of a temporary co-op employee, but would benefit from the completion of an applied research project on prototyping or a study on specific market research in our local economy. Welcoming a student who has chosen to enter the workforce in your industry to complete their unpaid field placement with you will not only be an extra set of hands in the shop, but could bring fresh ideas to your whole team. You can build this type of learning into your ongoing HR practices, or simply take advantage of a one-time project custom tailored for your business; work-integrated learning really does have something for everyone. This workshop will cover each of the various types of work-integrated learning, outlining the student and employer requirements for each, explaining how employers can get involved, and highlighting how this can benefit your business. |
