In this talk, award-winning scholar Dr. Jamie Gruman explains how we can leverage this research to give ourselves a ‘Boost’ and how to flip our downtime into ‘Uptime’ to most successfully recharge our batteries and return to our obligations feeling happier, recovered, and more productive. He presents his ReNU model, which synthesizes the research on recovery, and discusses specific activities we can implement during our time away from our obligations so that instead of just having our leisure time give us a break, it gives us a ‘Boost’!

Dr. Jamie Gruman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management at the University of Guelph. He is also a founding member of the Canadian Positive Psychology Association. His textbook on Applied Social Psychology is the global market leader, and his research and writing have been reported by media outlets around the globe. In Canada he has been featured and quoted across the country in print and online in magazines such as MoneySense, Canadian Business, and Chatelaine, trade journals such as HR Professional and Public Sector Digest, and newspapers in every major city. He has appeared on CTV’s Canada AM, Global News, Report on Business Television, CBC’s The National, and has been syndicated on CBC radio. Dr. Gruman has consulted and delivered seminars for Fortune 500 corporations, public, and not-for-profit organizations including General Motors, the Canadian Federal Government, and the Children’s Wish Foundation.

If you haven't had the chance to make it out to any of our past CBBs, come and see for yourself what a great opportunity networking can be. CBBs are held on the first Thursday of each month from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Members are encouraged to bring their flyers, brochures, business cards and other promotional material to share and display. For a nominal charge, a full hot breakfast is served.

Please Register before 2:30 p.m. on the day prior to the event. Registrations after that time may not be accepted.

If you are unable to attend, please call 721-5000 to cancel before 12:00 p.m. on the Tuesday prior to the event. Those who are pre-registered but do not attend and have not canceled will be charged for breakfast.
