Description
This month's event will be co-hosted by Snow Valley Resort Ltd. and the RVH Foundation!
Snow Valley Barrie is Ontario’s favourite family resort. Celebrate the winter season with your family while skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and snowshoeing. Winter truly is legendary here in Barrie: you don’t want to miss it!
The RVH Foundation continues to work with community donors to provide the resources necessary to quality patient care. Current priority areas include:
- The Need for Advanced Cardiac Care - North Simcoe Muskoka is the only region in Ontario that does not provide advanced cardiac services within its boundaries, and as a result, about 3,000 local patients travel to Newmarket for advanced heart procedures each year. RVH is working to address this need. The North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) has endorsed RVH as the site for the development of an advanced cardiac program, with the support and mentorship of Southlake Regional Health Centre. This program would provide advanced cardiac diagnostics and interventions, such as cardiac catheterization, coronary angioplasty and set the stage for further advancements in the future, such as pacemaker implantation.
- The Need for Child and Youth Mental Health - In Simcoe Muskoka there is a critical need for child and youth mental health services given that as many as 16,000 area young people experience a mental illness. Since 2007, the number of days that area children and youth have spent in the region's hospitals suffering from mental health issues has tripled. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth in Simcoe Muskoka. Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is developing plans for an inpatient unit for children and youth with outpatient and crisis support. It is a plan fully aligned with the provincial government's mental health strategy to provide fast access to high-quality services, early identification and support for vulnerable children with unique needs.
