DESCRIPTION:"You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes."\n\nWalk a Mile in Her Shoes is a community march where the community leads the way on the road to end domestic violence by walking one mile in red high-heeled shoes. The Women & Children's Shelter of Barrie relies heavily on community support and donations to be able to provide programs and services in Simcoe County.\n\n \n\nFor over 40 years the Women & Children is Shelter of Barrie\, has been providing a safe and secure refuge for abused women and their children in Simcoe Community. Since 2001\, men\, women\, and their families around the world have joined the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Event. Walk a Mile in HER Shoes is a symbolic march that gives men and male-identifying allies the opportunity to take a stand against violence against women. \n\n \n\nThe Women & Children's is Shelter is a 27-bed facility offering 24-hour emergency and residential support. Funds raised from this event provide shelter\, individual counselling\, legal advocacy\, housing transition services\, a 24-hour crisis line\, group support\, and public education programs\, all in the effort of creating the best life for women escaping abuse. The goal for 2023 is $70\,000 and we know the Barrie and Simcoe County region is ready to support #WAM2023 through individual or team fundraising.
