SUMMARY:Lunch N Learn - January 27\, 2016
DESCRIPTION:Business Education\n\nJoin us for a networking lunch with an educational component. Each month\, we bring in a local speaker to share their expertise on topics relevant to your business. This month's speaker is local photographer\, Don Komarechka. \n\nSuccess as an Artist\, and the Importance of a Personal Brand\n\nBeing a photographer is a complex mix of entrepreneurship and artistry. Carving out a niche while still being relevant to a large audience\, much of my photographic work touches on the "unseen world". Best known for my work with snowflakes\, and an author of a book on the subject\, we'll dive into the unexpected opportunities that arise from being "the best" at something obscure.\n\nWe discuss the challenges in finding success by selling images in a world that increasingly disregards the intellectual property of others. Artists and authors can survive in this changing landscape\, but we need to play by a different set of rules. Historically\, art has rarely stood on its own\; the name and fame of the artist has always added value to their work. Personal branding is required to make the same connection and constant interaction through social media can be the key to this constantly evolving success.\n\nSponsored by:\n\n\n\nSpeaker: Don Komarechka\n\nDon Komarechka is a nature\, macro and landscape photographer located in Barrie\, Ontario. From auroras to pollen\, insects to infrared\, much of Don's photographic adventures reveal a deeper understanding of how the universe works. Exploring the world that we cannot see with our own eyes has been a common thread in Don's career as a professional photographer. Always science-minded but never formally trained\, Don uses photography as a way to explore and understand the world around him. Photographing something unusual or unknown is the perfect excuse to learn something new. Don's work often pushes up against the technical limitations of modern camera equipment and the physical limitations of light itself.\n\nAbout Lunch N Learn:\n\nWe all need to find a healthy balance between business and family life. With so many demands on your time at the beginning and end of the workday\, the Chamber offers a lunchtime networking event that will allow you to network without taking you away from your valued family time. With unique and fun activities designed to encourage meaningful interaction amongst members\, Lunch N Learn is the best lunch you'll have all month! Join us for our monthly lunch in the fabulous Getaway Restaurant at OLG Slots at Georgian Downs! The food will be delicious\, the atmosphere will be cozy\, and your Events Committee will make sure that you get the most out of each event!\n\nPlease Register before 10:00am on the day prior to the event. Registrations after that time may not be accepted.\n\nIf you are unable to attend\, please call 721-5000 to cancel before 12:00pm on the Monday prior to the event. Those who are pre-registered but do not attend and have not canceled will be charged for lunch.
