He was stripped of his ability to speak\, write and draw. During his recovery at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) in Barrie\, Gould regained his ability to draw through rehabilitation therapy\, daily practice and the enduring support of his wife\, Ingi. The evolution took ten years of uncompromising effort on Gould?s part and he was able to continue showing his work to great critical acclaim. In this presentation\, Ingi Gould\, along with Frances Thomas\, a practicing artist and Curator and Coordinator of the permanent art collection at RVH\, trace the long and impressive career of John Gould through stories and images. Ingi shares insights into the life of her husband and the painful but rewarding ?comeback? after he suffered his stroke\, while Thomas sheds light on Gould?s artistic production from both before and after his stroke.
